BAKED STEW

We had this at a fundraiser for a child from Laurel who had cancer.

It was so good and easy, I had Jim ask for the recipe from the fellow who cooked the dinner.
(Jim worked with him at the Highway Department.)

In a large kettle, preferably cast iron but any will do,

Combine:

2 pounds stew meat
1 cup celery cut in 1-inch lengths 3 onions, quartered
6 potatoes in large chunks as many carrots as you like1 tablespoon salt 1 tablespoon sugar
1 No. 2 can chopped tomatoes 3 tablespoons tapioca

Mix well, cover tightly with lid, and bake for 5 or 6 hours at 250. About an hour before serving, add 1/4 to 1/2 cup of red wine.
