Aunt Dora's Sugar Cookies
These are my favorite sugar cookies. I thought I had lost the recipe and was really thrilled when an old friend casually mentioned to me one day that she still used the cookie recipe I had given her that "Mixed like pie crust".
Combine: 3 cups flour and 1 cup sugar; cut in until it looks like fine meal, 1 cup of butter (margarine works but isn't as good!)
Then add:
3 beaten eggs
1/3 cup of sour milk or buttermilk
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon almond flavoring
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg if desired
Drop by teaspoon on cookie sheet and press flat with bottom of a sugar bowl which has a design in it which has been dipped in sugar. Bake at 375 until edges are lightly brown.
