Date Filled Cookies

"From Ruth Price"

2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cups butter
1/2 cup lard
1 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla flour

Roll thin and cut with 3" cookie cutter/ Top with teaspoon of date filling and cover with another cookie. Seal edges.

Or cut with a larger round cookie cutter and fold a hlaf over the filling.

Bake at 350 until lightly browned.

Filling: 1# dates; 1 1/2 cup sugar; 1 cup water.
Boil until slightly thickened.
Let cool.
